BREAKING: White House Calls High Court Ruling ‘Meritless Litigation’
The White House responded to the flood of lawsuits after the Supreme Court’s temporary block of deportation efforts by labeling the litigation as “meritless.”
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on Saturday afternoon to Politico that the Administration believes its actions to be lawful and expects success in defending against baseless lawsuits initiated by radical activists who prioritize terrorist alien rights over American citizen rights.
The White House released its statement over 12 hours after the Supreme Court delivered its 7-2 decision to temporarily stop deportations early Saturday as Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas voiced their dissent.
A ruling emerged after the American Civil Liberties Union campaigned to stop what they claimed was a due process violation against immigrants receiving immediate deportation notifications from the United States.
A migration law challenge was presented first by attorneys who represented the migrants while lower courts had not yet delivered their rulings.
The government had yet to submit its response to the court. The dissenting statement attributed to Alito which was scheduled to come out remained unavailable up until Saturday afternoon.
The Department of Justice submitted a response after Leavitt’s statement which described the Supreme Court ruling as an “unprecedented injunction.”
An appeals court issued a statement early Saturday declaring the ACLU’s motion premature because the north Texas immigrant detainees had not achieved class certification.
The DOJ’s response, drafted by Solicitor General D. John Sauer, asks the court to confirm that the order does not prevent the administration from deporting Venezuelan detainees through methods other than the Alien Enemies Act.
President Donald Trump increased his verbal assaults against lower-court judges that opposed his immigration policies while specifically targeting U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg following his recent order to redirect deportation flights under the act.
