BREAKING: Sen. Van Hollen Shares Photo with Kilmar Abrego Garcia in El Salvador

Sen. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland flew to El Salvador to meet with a deported Maryland resident and later posted a photo with Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

The Maryland senator traveled to the country on Wednesday and later posted Thursday evening on X a photo with Abrego Garcia.

I told everyone that meeting with Kilmar was my main objective for traveling here. Tonight I had that chance. I spoke with his wife Jennifer to deliver his message of love. Van Hollen indicated in his post he would deliver a complete update once he returned.

According to the source Abrego Garcia together with his wife Jennifer Vasquez couldn’t talk and the family remains unaware about Abrego Garcia’s location.

Abrego Garcia’s wife expressed that her prayers have been answered in a statement from Vasquez given by CASA, which represents the family.

Vasquez confirmed that she received answers to both her prayers and hopes for her children. My family’s fight for justice has not gone unnoticed since I discovered my husband is still alive. God hears our voices while our community maintains its strength.

Vasquez said they still have many questions together with hopes and fears. She declared her commitment to pray and fight to bring Kilmar back home.

Van Hollen posted a video on social media Thursday which showed guards blocking his entry into CECOT prison where Abrego Garcia is detained before the meeting took place.

The Supreme Court together with a Maryland federal judge demanded the U.S. government facilitate Abrego Garcia’s return following the Department of Justice’s court filings which stated that the father at 29 years old was erroneously deported due to an administrative mistake.

The Trump administration stated that they cannot repatriate him while also alleging outside court that Abrego Garcia belongs to the MS-13 gang.
